Cold Wallet

Also called Cold storage · Offline wallet

A way of keeping a wallet’s private keys offline. Cold storage reduces exposure to online attacks, but the keys and recovery backup still need protection. The cryptocurrency itself remains recorded on its blockchain.

Confirmation

Also called Confirmations · Confirmed transaction

A transaction gains its first Bitcoin confirmation when it appears in a block on the accepted chain. Each later block adds another confirmation, making a reversal through chain reorganization progressively harder.
